    The Cardinals traveled to compete in the Avon Invitational and finished 1-1 on the day. Southport came out on fire in their first game against Martinsville, working to an early lead and never looking back. The final score was 21-3.     The Southport baseball team traveled to Pike High School Tuesday to take on their conference rival the Pike Red Devils. The Cards came up short however, as they had arguably their worst night of offense this season, racking up 13 strikeouts as a team, leading to Pike coming out on top 11-2.     The Southport baseball team traveled to Franklin Community last Saturday and split a double header with the Grizzly Cubs. The Cards couldn’t overcome another slow start in the first game as they quickly fell to a 0-8 deficit, but fought back with a big seven run fifth inning to put the Cardinals down one run.
